Our 1987 Blacksburg Transit Flxible Metro.

Coach 2616

Blacksburg Transit number 2616 is a 40 foot, 102 inch wide Flxible Metro made in January of 1987.  Part of two lots delivered in 1986 and 1987, it served its life working for the Town of Blacksburg, Virginia carrying Virginia Tech students to and from campus.  It served most of its time on the Tom's Creek A and B routes with some time devoted as a tripper on the Hethwood route.  This bus was also used for special charters and transporting fans at Virginia Tech home football games.  B.T. drove for Blacksburg Transit from 1995 to 1998 and drove 2616 many times during his tenure. One of the first assignments for the Blacksburg buses in the 2600 series was to transport movie crews to Mountain lake from the airport for the filming of Dirty Dancing.
