MAY Thanks to Valley Metro we've added a 1991 Gillig to our collection. It's a great addition for us, and will prove invaluable in the services we offer to the community. With the able assistance of Lewis, Jerry and Garrett and Bev, May 8th's workday saw the Gillig receive a good cleaning and the placement of its new CC&T logos. Jerry brought his high pressure sprayer and some chemicals making the Gillig look great. A water leaked was fixed in the buseum as well, which made for a full workday. APRIL Garden Week in Roanoke was a huge success this yearand we're proud to say we played our part. In possibly our most ambitious event to date, four coaches, drivers, and loaders were put to work all day on Saturday the 24th. This years tour focused on the Hollins/Plantation Road area. Folks turned out in huge numbers to enjoy the beautiful weather and see the sites. And approximately 2,000 of them rode a CC&T coach. It seemed everyone wanted to ride one of these fine buses, including the horses at the Vinyard Farm named Meadowbrook. Thanks to everyone that helped make this event a huge success. The 102 has arrived! Through the generosity and amazing driving skill of Charlie Brown of Brown & Sons, the 102 is safely parked in the barn awaiting restoration. Additional bobcat driving skills were provided by Kenny & Lewis. Thanks to everyone who stayed late on April 21st and made this happen. To learn more about this restoration project, and how you can help, download the pdf of our Save the 102 brochure. The 21st was a busy night. Our participation is this year's Virginia Historic Garden Week required a lot of preperationand cleaning. Our latest aquisition will be used for the adventure. More about that soon. |
