Summer 2007

SEPTEMBER

September 2,

I just want everyone to know what a great group we have— coming together so early on August 23rd to make sure we got the 418 ready to go to Richmond. What an incredible group of folks, I feel like a proud father! Everyone pitched in to get all the things we needed done. And, we did the details as well. Ed with dinner gave us all energy, Mel and Harry worked on the detailing and masking the doors, Freddy almost has the headlight bezels ready for installation tonight, Ben worked the forklift like the expert he is.

Mark and Mark Jr. kept us all on our toes, Karen was a great babysitter to Mark Jr., Joe was our window expert with BT and then BT finished painting the roof! Now, the real tough work was in the hands of Ed and BB as they got years of grundge off the back ceiling and cleaned the entire interior of the bus. Kenny was helping everyone and it was an incredible example of teamwork. What a great night in our history and just wait till those folks in Richmond see this baby (see images this page). It would never have been complete without the help of our volunteers!

JULY

July 1

Another great night of progress with BB and Ed working on the moulding and windows on the School Bus. Harry and Mel providing lights that work, Ed and BB also painting some windows. Plus, Joe helping me move buses and getting the tags on the school bus. In addition, Ben and Freddy did the heavy stuff with Freddy weedeating and Ben working on the Clutch assembly of the Buffalo. We will be at the Civic Mall on Friday night with two buses for Cruise night. Come on out to see us. Mel will have the school bus at the antique car show on Saturday.

LATE JUNE

June 22

Good news, we have the carburetor for the school bus as of today—so we can get that on right away. We’re just trying to figure out who knows how to do this job because it need to be completed a.s.a.p.

We met with some folks from Valley Metro and Abbott Bus Lines today to talk about the painting of the 66 Richmond GMC. Last night we had a great crowd with Mel and Harry working on the Mack. Freddy mowed so things look really good around the barn. Ben continued working on the Chiquita and we hope to have it running soon. BT moved buses around and took a couple for a test run—not at the same time, of course. Thanks to Mel we have new filters on the Pumpkin all the way around! Ed and BB were there and Ed helped sustain us all with pizza! Robert Young came by to look at what is necessary to move the Richmond bus and Bev put markings on the new pickup so it is ready to go!

Thanks so much to everyone who was there. Upcoming chores include working on the 66, putting the transmission back in the Buffalo, and seeing if we can get the White cab running properly. And the Chiquita comes before all of that.
